Waiting and Bumps in the Road

I know it’s been a little bit since I updated for you, but that’s because I’m right there in the waiting game with you. I hit a couple bumps in the road, but do not fear, the book is still coming, the pre-order is just gonna be a little later than planned. So, what happened? First, my lovely program I’m using to format my print and ebooks randomly had a glitch. It kept adding two extra blank pages in the book, for no apparent reason. After fiddling with it for several hours, I gave up and sent customer service a request. Thankfully, they were super fast in responding and very communicative, which I appreciated. They gave me some advice then eventually discovered there’s a glitch in the programming and they’re working on it. In the meantime, they gave me a solution that worked perfectly! So I have the manuscript ready, and now I’m just waiting on the dust jacket and full wraparound paperback cover from my cover designer. She’s adding all the necessary stuff like the text on the dust jacket, the blurb on the back, the barcodes, etc… I should have that within a week and as soon as I have it, I can upload everything to the correct distributors. After I submit that, ten business days after the text and cover files are approved, pre-orders will be available.

Like, soon. Before the end of the month. *cue freaking out* Anyways, so that’s pretty cool. I’m DYING to get a copy of the hardback and paperback in my hands. And I don’t think I’m alone in that 😉

So, what other exciting news do I have for you? A couple things, actually. Currently, I have two awesome designers working on two things for me. One is working on pin and sticker designs, things that will be in a pre-order box I intend to offer right here on my website. Keep in mind a pre-order box will be available, as it will include signed copies of my book along with some awesome swag (a little something else besides the pins and stickers my discord got a first look at it). Not able to get a pre-order box but still looking for some swag? Well, good news. I’m offering incentives for you to pre-order my book at all. That means, if you pre-order IASAD, I will soon have a submission page up for you to submit a copy of your receipt and once I verify you’ve pre-ordered a copy of my book (hardcopy format), I will send you some small swag to go with it 🙂

What’s the other designer working on? Character design. That’s right, my loves, I have commissioned a very talented illustrator to draw bust portraits of Kat and Nex! I’ve received the rough sketch of Kat and I’m IN LOVE. I can’t wait to share it with you! Nex’s will come next, and after that… Well… Let’s just say I asked for a scene with them both in it. It’s an image I’ve had in my head for a long time and while I initially intended to draw it myself, I find the time to do things like that is nonexistent. So, I’ve hired someone else and I’m thrilled with the portrait of Kat so far! And from these lovely designs, I intend to include the bust portraits of Kat and Nex in my pre-order box as character cards. As far as the scene with both of them in it, stay tuned 😉 So yes, be ready if you’re interested in the pre-order box, I’ll have more details as time goes, but know it’ll at least include a signed copy of the book, as well as a bunch of other IASAD related swag. This box will only be available for a limited time because I’ll have to order everything a decent amount ahead of release date so it can all be printed in time for release day.

It’s getting real, guys. We only have three months until book release- eek! So, I’ve actually been coming up with a bunch of things for release week. I intend to have all kinds of games with prizes, giveaways, freebies, and all kinds of extra stuff. Your best bet to be included is to follow me on instagram (linked on my website, but my handle is @jaide.harley), as a lot of my posts about this will take place there. However, if you are on the discord channel, that’s a good place to be too because I have some plans for that, including a voice chat day of release! And maybe even one in the week before release 😉

All that to say, I know I’ve been quiet but it’s only because I’m busy prepping for this book launch to make it the best it can be for me and you. I can’t wait for February, and to share the designs from my commissioned artists with you. Get ready for a lot of reveals in the upcoming weeks 🙂
